The Ministry of Transport, through the Directorate-General for Roads, has awarded OFITECO, in a Temporary Joint Venture (UTE), the service contract for State-road structure maintenance, assesment and coordination in Eastern Andalusia. With this award, OFITECO becomes a key player in strengthening the preventive maintenance of the national road network across the provinces of Granada, Jaén, Almería and Málaga.
A Contract Aligned with the Ministry’s New Maintenance Strategy
This service forms part of the strategic model promoted by the Ministry to transition toward a more agile, efficient and continuous maintenance system. This system is focused on infrastructure safety and sustainability.
The new methodology progressively replaces the traditional additional-works scheme with a dynamic approach that adapts interventions to the real needs of each moment. This will lead to safer driving conditions and more efficient asset management.
Specialist Functions to Strengthen Structural Management
OFITECO will carry out technical tasks aimed at ensuring the proper condition and service life of the structures on the state network, including:
- Technical supervision of works programmed by maintenance contractors
- Principal and special inspections of bridges, footbridges and pedestrian crossings
- Evaluation of construction solutions, quality plans and potential impacts on traffic
- Preparation of initial and final technical reports for each intervention
- Specialised advisory services for planning works and ensuring structural sustainability
A Multidisciplinary Team for a Strategic Region
To carry out these tasks, OFITECO will rely on a specialised technical team that will ensure the correct execution of all planned activities. The team will be composed of Civil Engineers, responsible for technical coordination and oversight of the works; surveying technicians, in charge of obtaining and processing the necessary geometric information; as well as site assistants and inspectors, who will provide operational support during field activities and daily supervision.
Furthermore, the project will include specific auxiliary equipment for inspection works, suitably prepared to meet the needs associated with structures and other monitored assets. In addition, the contract will have a dedicated technical office, located at the headquarters of the State Road Directorate in Granada, from which all analysis, monitoring and documentation management tasks will be coordinated.
