OFITECO and the General Directorate of Roads formalize the contract for the control and supervision of the remodeling works on the junction between the E-15/A-7 Mediterranean Highway and the A-92 Highway in Viator (Almería).

Portada » OFITECO and the General Directorate of Roads formalize the contract for the control and supervision of the remodeling works on the junction between the E-15/A-7 Mediterranean Highway and the A-92 Highway in Viator (Almería).

The contract is valued at €900,095.93 (VAT excluded) and will be executed over a period of 39 months.

Currently, the connection between the A-7 and A-92 motorways is via a diamond-shaped interchange with a lower roundabout of 116 m outside diameter, which also receives traffic from the A-1000 motorway (North Access to Almería) and the access road to the Legion Military Base.

Due to the high volume of traffic carried on this section by the A-7 and A-92 motorways, as well as the A-1000 motorway, there are high congestion situations during rush hour, causing long delays, which are detrimental to drivers.

To address the current problem, the project solution includes the construction of a new three-level interchange, defining four new direct branches that will resolve traffic flows between the A-7 and A-92 motorways. The roadway will also be doubled on the A-1000 highway, and access to the Legion Military Base and the service roads affected by the works will be restored.

A total of eleven structures are planned: four overpasses on the newly constructed interchange ramps; an overpass over the A-7; another overpass on the access to the Legion Military Base; an underpass for a road crossing Branch 2; and four cross-drainage vaults. Four reinforced concrete gravity walls and one reinforced soil wall have also been defined.

The works to be carried out by OFITECO consist of:

General Technical Assistance to the Contract Management: provision of the necessary human and material resources to the Construction Manager. Proposal of technical solutions to problems encountered on construction sites, collaboration in monitoring compliance with environmental regulations, monitoring compliance with current provisions regarding temporary signage at construction sites, collaboration in monitoring compliance with occupational health and safety measures, drafting of technical documents for processing modifications, supplementary documents, emergency actions, specific reports, etc.

Review and monitoring of the Contractor’s Quality Assurance Plan and support to the Construction Manager in establishing the quality assurance framework, consisting of the contractor’s and subcontractors’ QA, as well as supervision and monitoring documents and the establishment of external control.

On-Site Quality Control: Monitoring of the contractor’s quality controls, external quality control (qualitative) through contrast testing, geometric control, execution control, and quantitative and complementary control of the executed work.

This new contract builds on other similar projects carried out by OFITECO for the Directorate General of Highways and consolidates its position as a leading company in the sector.
