The Directorate‑General for Highways commissions OFITECO, in Temporal Joint Venture, the drafting of the alignment and construction project to modernise the A‑1 Highway, in the section between the San Agustín de Guadalix North Interchange and the El Molar Bypass. This is a key intervention along a corridor with high traffic volumes and clear needs in terms of capacity and safety.
A Project Aimed at Enhancing Safety and Functionality
The objective is to redefine the alignment, optimise the interchanges, and adapt the infrastructure to current and future demand. The project covers approximately 6.3 km, incorporating road‑safety, capacity, and operational‑continuity criteria, as well as geotechnical, hydraulic, and environmental considerations across the corridor.
Technical Scope of Work
OFITECO will develop the necessary studies to support the final design, including:
- Traffic, geology, geotechnics, drainage, and climatology analyses.
- Mapping and topographic surveys as the basis for geometric design.
- Assessment of earthworks and material availability.
- Structural, pavement, and road surface design in accordance with current regulations.
- An updated Risk Study, following the intensive dynamic supervision framework established by the Directorate‑General for Highways.
The project will also include the required environmental documentation and coordination with affected utilities and agencies.
Project Coordination and Management
Throughout the project, OFITECO will be responsible for organising all work phases, participating in progress meetings, and ensuring that deliverables comply with technical and regulatory requirements. The company will also integrate the Ministry’s BIM requirements to guarantee a coherent digital model.

This intervention will improve the safety and capacity of one of Madrid’s main access routes, contributing to more efficient operations and the gradual modernisation of the A‑1. With this assignment, OFITECO reaffirms its expertise in the development of highly complex road‑infrastructure projects.
