The Mancomunidad de los Canales del Taibilla awarded OFITECO a contract aimed at strengthening the management and safety of the Taibilla and Taibilla Toma dams. Technical actions will be carried out to ensure the proper operation of these infrastructures, which are essential for water supply and resource control within the basin.
The project will enable the update of operational procedures, oversight of maintenance activities, and continuous review of key documentation . These efforts seek to ensure that both facilities comply with regulatory requirements and maintain the necessary safety and operational standards.
Scope of Work
The contract covers the review and updating of Operation Rules and Emergency Plans, as well as the supervision of maintenance tasks undertaken at the dams. It also includes periodic topographic monitoring and campaigns to assess ecological and chemical parameters in the surrounding environment, providing accurate tracking of infrastructure performance over time.
As part of the scope, the development and continuous updating of a hydrological model of the basin is planned, together with the implementation of cleaning protocols and measures to control invasive species, such as zebra mussels.
OFITECO’s Responsibilities Within the Contract
The company will be responsible for coordinating technical monitoring of the dams, assessing the effectiveness of completed actions, and ensuring that all activities comply with established procedures. It will also interpret measurement and monitoring data, generating the reports that will guide decision-making and operational improvements.
Furthermore, OFITECO will propose adjustments or additional actions when improvement opportunities are identified, ensuring that the infrastructures maintain the required safety levels. The contract also includes oversight of environmental protection measures, particularly those related to managing invasive species.
