OFITECO will provide the technical assistance services for the preparation of the Granada Metro Master Plan, with the aim of improving the planning, operation and future development of the metropolitan network. This initiative will help optimize the public transport system in the Granada metropolitan area and adapt it to emerging mobility needs.
The Master Plan is conceived as a strategic document that will guide the operation and management of the metro network. In addition, it will assess both the existing infrastructure and potential future extensions, taking into account the actions envisaged in the Granada Metropolitan Area Transport Plan.
First, a detailed analysis of the current network will be carried out. This will include the assessment of infrastructure, facilities, rolling stock and operating systems. Furthermore, service performance, network capacity and current demand will be evaluated.
Subsequently, a technical diagnosis will be developed to identify opportunities for improvement. In this context, aspects such as efficiency, service quality, sustainability and climate change adaptation will be examined.
Demand studies will also be updated through mobility models designed to forecast the future evolution of the system. To this end, new factors such as low-emission zones and changing mobility patterns will be taken into account.
Another key component of the project will be the assessment of potential network extensions. Different expansion alternatives within the metropolitan area will be evaluated using technical, operational and environmental criteria to determine their feasibility and priority.
In addition, the Master Plan will define several action lines aimed at improving the network, including:
- Asset maintenance and modernization
- Service enhancement and customer experience improvements
- Capacity increases and urban integration
- Operational and cost optimization
- Energy efficiency and sustainability
These measures will help strengthen service quality and support the long-term development of the metro system.
Finally, the Master Plan will incorporate a public participation process. Through this process, contributions from public authorities, stakeholders and citizens will be collected, helping to shape a proposal that responds to the actual needs of the territory.
Through this project, OFITECO reinforces its position as a specialist company in the planning and management of transport infrastructure, contributing to the development of a more efficient and sustainable mobility model in the Granada metropolitan area.
