These dams are Gargáligas, Cubilar, Cancho del Fresno, Ruecas, Ruecas Weir, Sierra Brava, Alcollarín and Búrdalo. These infrastructures form an interconnected water system, key in regulating the right bank of the Guadiana River and supporting both agricultural and urban water uses.
A Service Focused on Ensuring Operational Continuity
The contract covers all activities required to guarantee the safe operation of the dams, including routine and emergency operation, preventive and corrective maintenance, conservation of civil works, inspections and technical surveillance. The works include interventions on outlet structures, gates, electrical systems, lifting equipment and standby generators, as well as the upkeep of dam crests, faces, galleries, access roads and auxiliary buildings, among others.
Technical Monitoring and Instrumentation
OFITECO will also be responsible for the collection, analysis and interpretation of monitoring data, together with the preparation of periodic performance reports and operational records. The service further includes incident response, on-call duty management and technical support for interventions affecting dam safety.
A Specialist Team for a Complex System
A multidisciplinary team will be deployed, supported by a local operations office in Don Benito with the mechanical and IT resources required for effective management. In addition, quality management systems and environmental criteria will be applied in accordance with the standards established by the Guadiana River Basin Authority.
Strengthening Dam Safety and the Preservation of Hydraulic Assets
The project will enhance response capacity and preventive control measures for dams that are particularly important for irrigation, water supply and flood protection. Through this contract, OFITECO further consolidates its role in the technical management of complex hydraulic systems and contributes to improve the preservation of essential hydraullic infrastructures within the Guadiana River Basin area.
