The 32nd Latin American Congress of Hydraulics, bringing together specialists, researchers and professionals from the fields of hydraulic engineering and water science in Chile. The event will take place in Valparaiso and Viña del Mar from 19 to 23 October 2026, with academic and technical activities hosted by the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso and Federico Santa María Technical University.
Considered as a key meeting point for Latin America’s technical and scientific water community, the Congress promotes knowledge exchange, research, development and innovation at a time when water resources and infrastructure face increasingly complex challenges. Its programme includes technical sessions, conferences and opportunities for professionals from across the region to exchange knowledge and experience.
OFITECO’s participation will focus on areas in which the company has specialist expertise, including dam safety, instrumentation and monitoring, early warning systems and hydrometeorological information. These capabilities are increasingly relevant in scenarios where reliable, up-to-date information is essential to anticipate risks, understand infrastructure behaviour and support informed decision-making.
OFITECO’s experience in Latin America has enabled the company to apply this expertise in collaboration with public authorities and private organisations on projects related to the safety and management of hydraulic infrastructure. Monitoring, instrumentation and data analysis form an important part of this work, transforming collected information into practical tools for infrastructure operation, maintenance and risk management.
Attending the Congress will also provide an opportunity to exchange experiences with the Latin American hydraulic engineering community and explore new technical approaches to the challenges facing the sector. The event itself addresses topics such as climate change adaptation and mitigation while bringing together scientific and technical contributions from across the region.
For OFITECO, participation also represents another step forward in its commitment to Chile, where the company aims to continue developing its activity and contributing its international experience. Combining technical expertise, monitoring and information management provides a strong foundation for supporting safer and more resilient infrastructure and more efficient water management.
