The ANCOLD Conference 2026 will bring together international dam professionals and specialists in Hobart, Tasmania, from 26 to 28 October. Under the theme “Resilient Dams, Smart Futures”, the conference will explore how dam engineering and management are evolving in response to climate change, sustainability, risk management and emerging technologies. More than 500 delegates are expected from sectors including irrigation and urban water, hydropower, mining, regulation and consulting.
OFITECO’s presence at the conference will provide an opportunity to share experience and explore new perspectives on some of the key challenges currently facing the dam industry.
A highlight of OFITECO’s participation will be the presentation “A National-Scale Digital Platform for Dam Safety, Emergency Management and BIM: Lessons from 175 State-Owned Large Dams in Spain”. The presentation will share OFITECO’s experience in applying digitalisation and BIM methodology to integrated dam safety management, drawing on a national-scale system covering 175 state-owned large dams.
The presentation will focus on the potential of digital platforms to bring together technical information, monitoring data, emergency management and BIM models within a single environment. This approach provides a more comprehensive view of infrastructure performance and offers new tools to support dam safety management and informed decision-making.
These topics closely reflect the approach of the ANCOLD Conference 2026, which encourages the industry to look beyond traditional dam engineering and consider sustainability, climate change, risk management and the opportunities created by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
For OFITECO, the conference represents another opportunity to contribute its expertise in dam safety, monitoring and digital transformation, while exploring the solutions and trends shaping the future of dam infrastructure.
